Woori Bank overcomes 16-point deficit…BNK falls to 11th straight loss

Asan Woori Bank snapped Busan BNK’s 11-game losing streak in women’s professional basketball. The team overcame a 16-point deficit.

Woori Bank defeated BNK 56-47 in a home game of the Woori Bank Woori WON 2023-2024 Women’s Professional Basketball League regular season at Asan Yi Sunshin Gymnasium 스포츠토토 on Wednesday.

Woori Bank players wore special jerseys with the name “Satellite Woo” on them to celebrate the league’s first coach to reach 300 career wins, but the team struggled early in the second quarter, falling behind 12-28 with Park Ji-hyun and Choi Yi-sam out due to injury.

However, Woori Bank fought back with 14 consecutive points to even the score and pull away early in the third quarter.

BNK faced a crisis in the middle of the fourth quarter when their star player Jin-an went down with an injury. Woori then extended its lead with back-to-back baskets from Lee Myung-kwan to take the lead. Park Hye-jin, who returned from injury after nearly eight weeks, hit a three-pointer in the final minute of the fourth quarter to seal the game.

Lee Myung-kwan finished with 20 points and seven rebounds, including nine points in the fourth quarter, while Kim Dan-bi finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Woori Bank improved to 18-4 with the win, closing to within two games of leader Cheongju KB Stars (20-2).

BNK, which has lost 11 straight games, remained in last place with a 4-20 record.
