Las Vegas City CEO and developer Derek Stevens announced Wednesday morning that he would distribute 1,000 free one-way flights to Las Vegas from 20 major U.S. cities.
As part of the free flights, there was no provision for those using them to stay or visit two downtown Las Vegas properties owned by Stevens – Golden Gate Hotel & Casino and The Las Vegas – both of which are scheduled to reopen next week.
“Obviously my team and I want you to stay in one of our hotels,” Stevens explained in a video promoting the giveaway. “But if you don’t want to, that’s fine, too. This is because Las Vegas needs you. Our community needs you. We’re just trying to do our part, keep flying in America, and keep Las Vegas rolling.”
Little did Stephens know that the demand for these flights would explode. With the “Keep America Flying” promotion, the first 1,000 flights disappeared within the first two hours.
After the initial 1,000 flights were recalled, Stevens talked with several airlines again and decided to add more flights and cities. Some cities that were added to the secondary flights included New York, Boston, Tampa, and Orlando.
Stevens and his team decided to offer an additional 700 flights, bringing the total number of free flights to 1,700. 온라인경마
The recipient of the ticket shall bear all additional expenses related to the stay, including return flights, hotel accommodation and cancellation and/or rescheduling.
Airlines involved in the “Keep America Flying” promotion include Allegant, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and Sun Country Airlines.
“As we begin to open across the city, we are proud to help boost our travel to Las Vegas while supporting airlines in the U.S. that have been hit by the COVID-19 outbreak,” Stevens said in a press release. “We can’t wait to bring visitors safely back to the city and remind them why we won the title of ‘entertainment capital of the world’.”
Stevens also talked with his brother Greg about his plans for a Cirque Resort & Casino coming to Downtown Las Vegas. Derek Stevens said the 777-room building in News 3 Las Vegas will have the world’s largest sports book screen and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The 1.25 million-square-foot building is still under construction, which will drill the Las Vegas skyline into the tallest tower north of the strip.
