‘Worst contract ever’ Simmons out for season with injury…club mulls disposal

Simmons is out for the season.

“The Brooklyn Nets’ Ben Simmons is out for the rest of the season with a back injury,” The Athletic reported on Aug. 8 (local time).

Brooklyn currently sits in 11th place in the Eastern Conference 텍사스홀덤사이트 with a record of 25 wins and 39 losses. It’s clearly a disappointing season.

The promising development of young players like Mikal Bridges and Cam Thomas has been lackluster, and veterans like Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith have been underwhelming.

Brooklyn had a more fundamental problem. It was the lack of a clear-cut ace. The Nets have struggled in clutch situations all season long. They didn’t have an ace they could count on when they needed to settle the offense. Bridges and Thomas were both disappointing.

Simmons was the one player they were counting on to pick up the slack. Simmons is the only Brooklyn player with All-Star Game experience. Before the season started, Brooklyn head coach Jacques Vaughn and general manager Sean Marks said they had high hopes for Simmons.

But Simmons has shattered those expectations. In 15 games this season, Simmons has averaged just 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 24 minutes per game.

He wasn’t bad when he was on the floor, but the problem is that he only played 15 games. The team built the season around Simmons, but he only played 15 games.

Simmons also only played 42 games last season. Simmons is now a clear “glass house” player.

The problem is that Simmons‘ contract runs through next season. He’s still under contract for the 2024-2025 season for $40 million.

According to subsequent reports, Brooklyn will look to trade Simmons this summer. The question is whether there will be a taker.

With Simmons’ injury, Brooklyn’s season is effectively over. Simmons is arguably the worst contract in the NBA right now.
