LIM JOO-HEON SHINES ON HIS JUNIOR GP MEN’S SINGLE SILVER MEDAL DEBUT

Another figure skating hopeful has emerged. Men’s singles prospect Lim Joo-heon (Surigyo) has claimed silver at the fourth edition of the International Ice Skating Union (ISU) Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix 2023. Lim earned a technical score (TES) of 70.40, a performance score (PCS) of 72.17 and a total score of 142.57 in the men’s single free skate on 15 February in Osaka, Japan .He added a short programme score of 75.38 for a final total of 217.86 points, placing him in second place behind François Pitot (219.86 points-FR).This was Lim’s first time competing at an ISU-organised event. He exceeded expectations in his debut. Lim performed his first task, a triple axel-triple toe-loop combination jump, flawlessly. His landing was slightly wobbly and he did not receive a GOE, but this was not penalised. He followed that up with a clean triple axel and a clean triple lutz-double axel-double axel sequence jump. The flying change foot combination spin was handled as a level 4.I made a mistake on the last jump task of the first half. On the triple flip-double toe-loop combination jump, he had a landing problem and couldn’t execute the double toe-loop. However, Lim showed his mettle and executed the next task, a triple lutz with a double toe loop, to avoid the worst .His subsequent performance was a little disappointing. His triple loop was ruled a quarter landing (a jump that is not rotated at the 90-degree level) and his triple salko was ruled under rotated (a jump that is not rotated at least 90 degrees but not more than 180 degrees). After completing all the jumping tasks, Lim finished his performance with a change foot combination spin (level 4), a change foot sit spin (level 3) and a correo sequence. His partner, Lee Jae-geun (Surigyo), finished in sixth place with a final total of 193.43 points. South Korea has swept the medals at every Junior Grand Prix event this season .In addition to their strong women’s singles performance, they have also exceeded expectations in men’s singles and ice dancing .At the first Junior Grand Prix event, Kim Yoo-sung (silver – Pyeongchon Middle School), Han Hee-soo (bronze – Sunil Girls’ Middle School) and the ice dance team of Kim Ji-nee and In-moo (bronze – Gyeonggi-do Ice Sports Federation) won the women’s singles, while at the second event, Kim Hyun-gyeom (Han AD) won silver, Shin Jia (Yeongdong Middle School) won gold and Kwon Min-sol (Mokdong Middle School) won bronze .In the third event, the men’s singles championship was won by Lee Min-kyu (Gyeongshin), while Kim Yoo-jae (Pyeongchon) won the bronze medal. Korea will be hoping to add to their medal tally at the Games .Earlier in the day, in the women’s singles short programme, 2010-born prospect Hwang Jeong-ryul (Sangmyungjung) finished fifth with a TES score of 34.97, PCS score of 26.12 and total score of 61.09.She is just 1.70 points behind third-placed KUSHIDA Ikura (62.79 points-Japan) and could be in contention for a medal depending on how she 바카라사이트 performs in the free skate on the 16th.
