Jang Won-chul, former president of the Korea Baseball Association, was appointed as an advisor to the Lotte R&D team

Starting on the 1st, Professor Jang Won-chul will serve as an advisor to the club’s R&D team for a year and will advise on the overall analysis of player data. Through this agreement, the club expects to enhance data analysis by sharing feedback and development directions on existing analysis results and jointly studying the linkage between performances of other leagues such as MLB and NPB and KBO.

Professor Jang Won-chul said, “I want to walk with Lotte on the path of a baseball data analyst who used to be a favorite reader of weekly baseball and dreamed of becoming a baseball data analyst when I was young. Like Professor Jim Albert of Bowling Green University, we want to contribute to data-based baseball analysis.”

Jang Won-chul, a former president of the Korea Baseball Association, earned a Ph.D. in statistics from Carnegie Mellon University and is currently a professor of statistics at Seoul National University, his alma mater.
