National Games to be held in Jeonnam
The 53rd National Boys’ Sports Championships (Boys’ Games) will be held in Jeollanam-do from May 25 to 28. Basketball will be played in four categories (boys U12, U15, girls U12, U15) at the Kangjin 1st and 2nd Indoor Gymnasiums in Kangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do on the 24th, earlier than the scheduled date.

Gwangju Sufia Girls’ Middle School will be looking to win their third consecutive title. The team, which won the gold medal at the 51st and 52nd Boys’ Championships, will open their campaign against Sookmyung Girls’ Middle School in Seoul on Friday. Ulsan Songjeongcho, also in the southern elementary division, will try to win its second consecutive title when it opens its round of 16 match against Daejeon Eunersongcho on Friday.
South Central’s Hwimunjoong is making his first appearance in the boys’ tournament after a long time representing Seoul. Hwaseocho defeated Seongnam Soojeongcho 38-34 in the girls’ elementary school final of the 2024 Gyeonggi-do Superintendent’s Basketball Tournament and 53rd National Youth Sports Games in April. Soojeongcho, which is named after the flowering plant, has won three gold medals (2019, 2022, 2023) and one silver (2021) in the last four boys’ championships.
