Macau’s government earned $51.62 billion ($6.43 billion) in fiscal revenues from taxes on games in the first seven months of 2024, according to the latest data released by the Macau Financial Services Bureau on Tuesday.
So far this year, the total collection from these taxes has increased by 15.2% compared to the previous year. 동행복권파워볼
In July this year alone, the government collected nearly $6.83 billion in gaming taxes, down 12.2% from the previous month.
Under Macau’s 10-year game subsidy scheme, which took effect on January 1 last year, the effective tax on casino gross game income (GGR) is 40%.
Tax collection figures for certain calendar periods and urban casino GGRs for such periods are not directly comparable for a number of reasons. This usually includes the fact that there is a delay between when the GGR is recorded in Macau casino operations and when the Macau government registers it as having paid taxes.
Macau’s casino GGR in June was just over 17.69 billion MOPs, down 12.4% from 20.19 billion MOPs in May this year and the best monthly figure since January 2020, the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the seven months to July 31, gaming-induced taxes brought in 83.9% of Macau’s government’s total revenue, with total revenue reaching nearly MOP $61.51 billion, the latest data showed.
According to the government’s 2024 budget plan, game tax revenue is expected to reach nearly MOP 83.61 billion this year. Revenue in the first seven months of the year represents 61.7% of that figure.
Macau authorities collected MOP652.6 billion in revenue from gaming taxes for all of 2023, achieving a surplus of 28.3% from last year’s budgeted gaming tax revenue.
