‘Alcantara Revival’ captain Lee Seung-yeop smiles… and claps for his opponent’s record as a ‘baseball man’

Even in the midst of victory, he took the other team’s ball. Doosan Bears manager Lee Seung-yeop applauded both his team and the other team for their win this week.

The Doosan Bears won 2-0 at home against the NC Dinos of the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League on Tuesday at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.

The victory avenged the previous day’s loss and improved Doosan’s record to 42 wins, 2 draws, and 32 losses on the season, making it the Winning Series of the Week. NC was unable to continue its momentum and fell to 35 wins, 2 draws, and 36 losses.

Doosan’s lineup is Henry Moss (right fielder), Jung Soo-bin (center fielder), Heo Kyung-min (third baseman), Kim Jae-hwan (designated hitter), Yang Seok-hwan (first baseman), Kang Seung-ho (second baseman), Park Jun-young (shortstop), Kim Ki-yeon (catcher), and Cho Su-hyun (left fielder). Raul Alcantara was the starting pitcher.

Alcantara made his first start in nearly two months, tossing seven innings of four-hit ball with five strikeouts and no walks to earn his second win of the season. He was previously scratched from the first team roster on April 10 after leaving his start against the Hanwha Eagles with a strained elbow. He returned to the team on April 26, but struggled in his return.

However, Alcantara bounced back strongly and shut down the NC bats. On the day, he threw seven innings, 94 pitches, four hits, five walks, and no runs with five strikeouts. His ERA dropped from 4.01 to 3.53.

After the game, Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop praised Alcantara, saying, “Alcantara did his job by pitching seven strong innings,” and that he “actively 토토 attacked the strike zone from the first inning and showed his ace-like form by confidently spraying the ball on the body course.”

He also praised the bullpen pitchers Kim Kang-ryul, Lee Byung-heon, and Kim Taek-yeon, who were split from the eighth inning to the ninth inning.

“The bullpen was solid,” Lee said, “Kim Kang-ryul, Lee Byung-heon, and Kim Taek-yeon all pitched aggressively and faced the opposing batters. It was a tough game because we didn’t score after the third inning, but the defense was good. It was a game where you could feel the will of the entire team to win the Winning Series,” he said.

Before Doosan’s victory, however, Jamsil applauded Son As-seob’s new KBO League record for most hits in a career (2,505).

Manager Lee Seung-yeop was no different. “Today, our opponent set a new record for most hits,” Lee said, adding, “As a baseball player, I really congratulate him on his record.”

Meanwhile, Doosan will play an away game against the Samsung Lions at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on April 21.
